Weekly Assignments & Schedule
HomeRoom is an academic advisory opportunity for everyone. We will meet twice a week for fifty (50) minutes each day. We will have several structured activities designed, primarily, to complete homework, seek additional help, and ask questions of individual teachers. Additionally this time is intended to promote Responsible Scholar activities such make-up work following absences or clarifying confusions from various classes.
Each Day (Tues. & Wed.) will be structured as follows:
Tuesday —
- Silent Sustained Reading (SSR) 20 minutes;
- Citizenship and Community Duties 10 minutes;
- Study Skills & Silent Work on HW or Reading 20 minutes
Wednesday —
- Silent Sustained Reading (SSR) 20 minutes;
- Silent Work on HW or Reading 20 minutes;
- Free-Choice Activity and Community Building 10 minutes

Every Tuesday students will conduct Citizenship and Community Duties in an effort maintain classroom order as well as create stewardship throughout our school community.
The following citizenship duties will be chosen weekly. It is expected that these tasks be completed within five minutes of being chosen or how ever long it takes to completely finish your job.
NOTE: Some jobs will take longer than others.
- Cleaning Sinks
(responsible for cleaning the classroom sinks) - Cleaning Tables
(responsible for cleaning the classroom tables) - Recycling
(responsible for emptying classroom recycling) - Sweeping the classroom & Classroom Organzation
(responsible for sweeping the classroom and picking up paper) - Pencil Sharpener & Supply Maintenance
(responsible for emptying the pencil sharpeners (3) in the classroom and supplying the paper towel dispenser and soap dispenser as needed) - Job Accountability
(responsible for ensuring that jobs are completed & other tasks as needed) - Whiteboard Maintenance & Date Update
(responsible for updating date on board and erasing needed items) - Emergency
Procedure Practice Leader
(responsible for leading the class through an emergency scenario each week)
