Natural
Forces Shape Landscapes
There is evidence
of natural landscape modifications by glaciers and earthquakes at IslandWood,
and how some of these changes have affected people.
There are several
ways to learn more about natural forces and processes that shape the
earth at IslandWood:
go
on an erratic walk, and map the boulders that have been left behind
by glacial advance and retreat 20,000 years before present (ybp)
learn
more about continental rivers of ice that shaped the Puget Sound 20,000
ybp, and watch a video of the advance and retreat
take
a look at a slice in time with an ancient fault and learn about basic
geologic principles
learn
more about earthquake mechanisms of the Puget Sound Region
explore
new technologies to find new faults, and extensively map existing
ones.
learn
from expert research because there is always more to know
